Compliance & Eligibility FAQ
The NWAC provides more eligibility guidance for this academic year
VANCOUVER, WASH. — (July 16, 2020) The NWAC encourages student-athletes to enroll in fall 2020 classes. Attending college for the first time can be quite daunting and overwhelming especially when you include competing in athletics as well. Enrolling in fall classes helps you get acclimated to your institution with very little to no pressure from athletics. Attending in the fall 2020 part-time and or full-time should prove beneficial to your overall academic plan and success. Proper planning may lead to a sophomore season with reduced credits. Also it is important to note that NWAC is planning on the traditional sports calendar resuming for fall 2021. Student-athletes will need to meet the traditional second-year academic eligibility standards. Taking classes beginning fall 2020 will help meet second-year eligibility requirements.
NWAC Announces Return to Play for 2020-21
VANCOUVER, WASH. — (July 9, 2020) With the 2020-2021 school year quickly approaching, and the goal to provide practice and competition in as much normalcy as possible while continuing to protect the safety of our student-athletes and slow the spread of COVID-19, the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) has released Return-to-Play Guidelines for the 2020-2021 academic year. On Tuesday the NWAC Executive Board approved a plan to move the majority of fall sports to winter and spring quarters.
This means Edmonds College will only have two programs officially competing this fall — men’s and women’s cross country. We recognize there are still questions to be answered around eligibility, what our other teams will be allowed to do in the fall, and when student-athletes should arrive to campus. Each sport’s head coach will communicate with their respective teams as more information becomes available. Read More > >
